Maps that will change how you see the world

Web Site: Maps that will change how you see the world

About this site / Ideas for this site

The world is round and a map is flat and projections can be distorted. The commonly-used Mercator projection distorts the size of Europe and is Northern-hemisphere centric. The Peters projection accurately shows different countries’ relative sizes.

  • Look at the different maps on this website
  • Discuss how they make people feel and why?
  • Is the map of the world we see all the time the right one?
  • Why are maps important?
